For the convenient measurement means and the character without touching the measured object of the computer vision technique,it has got great attention,and has been applied in more and more fields,such as the dimension detection,space orientation and speed measurement,and so on.Circle target is often used in the computer vision detection as the feature target because of its good and simple geometrical feature.The accurate detection of the circle target is an essential and key process in the computer vision detection.So scientists have spent a great deal of time on this research and proposed a lnt of algotithm ahout the circle object detection for the past years.The circle detection method based on Hough Transform has been used more and more widely in recent year since it possesses the high reliability and the strong anti-noise ability.
The Hough Transform principle is to transform the image coordinate of the image space to the parameter of the parameter space,and apply these edge points which accord with certain parameter format to describe the curve's region boundary.By setting up a parameter accumulation to accumulate those points with the same parameter value,we can acquire the parameter value that most points have,which is what we want.
The Hough Transform (HT) is a standard method for shape recognition in digital images [1,2].It was first applied to the recognition of straight lines [3,4] and later extended to circles [5],ellipses [6] and arbitrarily shaped objects [7].The circle Hough Transform method in the [5] proposed by Davies is applied widely in the circle object detection because it is able to complete the detection task under the noise,distortion condition.But the traditional circle Hough transform needs 3-dimension parameter space,so the process of the computing costs a lot of time and very large computer memory.A lot of research has been carried out in effort to look for an effective and convenient Hough Transform circle detection technique.In [8],Davies made use of the circle objectgeometrical feature that the line passes the center of a circle if the straight line is vertical to the tangent of the point on the circle boundary to detect this circle object.But the detection is susceptible to noise since the gradient direction's accuracy is often not high.Sun proposed a circle Hough Transform detectionmethod in [9] by utilizing the circle geometrical character that the center of a circle is the intersectant point of the two hypotenuses of two right-angled triangles on the circle boundary,however it needs to spend some time to compute the intersectant point of the two hypotenuses.In this paper,we propose an effective and convenient circle detection method based on Hough Transform.The method fully utilizes the circle target's geometrical feature to avoid computing the intersectant point of the two hypotenuses.
