表示将来的手段有多种,如be going to do（主观在将来的打算或主观对将来客观的判断）、be about to to（主观认为正要或即将出现的将来）、be on the point of doing（主观认为正要出现的将来）、be + 趋向动词的现在分词（主观认为正在发展着的将来）、一般现在时（日程表排定的或亘古不变的将来）、will do 或will be doing（客观上有可能发生的将来）.
其中的will do 和will be doing 都表示不含主观看法的单纯的将来,但是内涵却有一定的区别.
will do 只是单纯表示将来某一时刻存在的可能性,如：
You will regret this. （那一刻）你可能会后悔.
They will appear later. 他们稍晚会（在那一刻）露面
He will be forty on his next birthday. 到下次生日的那一刻, 他就四十岁了.
will be doing 表示将来在一段时间会延续下来的可能性,如：
You will be regretting this. 你可能会后悔一阵子.
I will be waiting for you at the park. 我会在公园那里等着你.
He will be earning only half as much as he used to. 他那一阵子顶多会赚到以往的一半.
这是一个时态的问题，两种表达在语法上都没有问题，“He will be earning ”将来进行时描述的是将来的一种状态，比一般将来时更准确更贴切一些。
